Article
যে সকল বিশেষণবাচক শব্দ বা অক্ষর Noun এর পূর্বে বসে তার সংখ্যা বা নির্দিষ্টতা বা অনির্দিষ্টতা বুঝায় তাকে article বলে।
article হচ্ছে a,an,the
parts of speech হিসাবে এইগুলো adjective শ্রেণীভুক্ত।
kinds of article
Article দুই প্রকার যথাঃ 1. Indefinite article 2. Definite article.
Indefinite article : কোনো কিছুকে অনির্দিষ্ট করে বুঝাতে indefinite article বসে। A এবং An কে indefinite article বলে। a এবং an এর অর্থভেদে কোনো পার্থক্য নেই। কিন্তু ব্যবহার ভেদে এদের পার্থক্য আছে। সাধারণত এরা Singular Countable Noun এর পূর্বে বসে। example: I have a pen.
Definite Article: কোনো কিছুকে নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝাতে definite article বসে। The কে definite article বলে। singular ও plural উভয় প্রকার noun এর পূর্বে the বসে। example: The moon moves round the earth.
Sentence এ article এর স্থান
1. ▪️Article + Noun ( সাধারণত countable noun / visible noun এর পূর্বে article বসে। uncountable noun / invisible noun এর পূর্বে article বসে না।
example: I have a football.
2. Article + Adjective + Noun . ( যদি Noun এর সাথে adjective থাকে সেক্ষেত্রে adjective এর আগে article বসে।
example: a red pen. A colourful shirt.
3. Article + adverb+ adjective + noun যদি sentence এ noun এর আগে adjective এবং adjective এর আগে adverb থাকে তাহলে adverb এর আগে article বসে। এই article noun এর জন্য বসে।
4. যদি adjective এর আগে as / How ব্যবহৃত হয়, সেক্ষেত্রে Article, Adjective এর পরে বসে।Example: How beautiful a bird. Karim wants to become as intelliget a man as Rafiq.
5. যখন দুই বা ততোধিক noun / adjective একই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে বুঝায়, তখন প্রথম noun/ adjective এর পূর্বে Article বসে। সেক্ষেত্রে verb singular number হয়।
Example: The Headmaster and Secretary presided over the meeting.
6. যখন দুই বা ততোধিক Noun / adjective ভিন্ন বস্তু বা ব্যক্তিকে বোঝায় তখন উভয় noun বা adjective এর পূর্বে article বসে।
Example: Give me a black and a red pen.
Use of indefinite article
1. সাধারণত word এর শুরুতে consonant থাকলে এর পূর্বে a এবং vowel ( a, e, i, o, u) থাকলে এর পূর্বে an বসে।
example: I have a pen
2. word এর প্রথম অক্ষর vowel থাকলে এবং তা ইউ/ ওয়া এর মত উচ্চারিত হলে article a বসবে।
Example: Ritu has a one taka note.
3. কোনো word এর শুরুতে যদি H থাকে কিন্তু H উচ্চারিত না হয়ে পরের vowel উচ্চারিত হলে article an বসবে।
Example: Rajot is an honest man.
4. অনির্দিষ্ট কোনো ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, প্রাণী এর পূর্বে a/ an বসে।
example: I saw a saw under a saw.
5. পেশা, ব্যাবসা, ধর্ম, সম্প্রদায়, জাতীয়তা ইত্যাদি বোঝাতে যে সব noun ব্যবহৃত হয় তার পূর্বে a/an বসাতে হয়।
Example: Rafiq is a business man.
6. সমজাতীয় কিছু বোঝাতে common noun এর পূর্বে article a/an বসে।
example: Birds of a same feather flock together.
7. সংক্ষিপ্ত শব্দের প্রথম অক্ষরটি vowel এর মত উচ্চারিত হলে তার পূর্বে an বসবে। এবং সংক্ষিপ্ত শব্দের প্রথম অক্ষরটি উচ্চারণ consonant এর মত উচ্চারিত হলে a বসবে।
Example: My father is an M.B.B.S doctor.
8. কোনো সংখ্যা, দাম, পরিমান বোঝাতে a বসে। example: I bought a dozen eggs.
9. অপরিচিত কোনো ব্যক্তির নাম / পদবীর পূর্বে a / an বসে। example: A Mr. Raja came to see me.
10. Each / per অর্থে a/an বসে। এক্ষেত্রে each/ per উহ্য থাকে।
Example: Shoaib earnd twenty thousand taka a month.
11. কিছু কিছু phrase এর মাঝে a/ an বসে। Example: Imran is in a hurry
12. Few, little, amount of, good many,lot of , good deal ইত্যাদির পূর্বে a/ an বসে এবং many, quite, such, but, merely, rather ইত্যাদির পরে a/ an বসে।
example: There are a lot of books on the table. Ratan is not such a boy as I expected.
13. Superlative Degree এর ক্ষেত্রে most এর অর্থ যখন very বা খুব বেশি বোঝায় তখন the এর পরিবর্তে a হয়।
example: He saw a most wonderful sight.
14. Exclamatory sentence ' what ' দিয়ে শুরু হলে what এর পরে A/ An বসে।
Example: what a beautiful bird it is!
Use of Definite article
1.এক বা একাধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝায় তাহলে তার আগে the বসে।
Example : The boy is reading now.
2. এক জাতীয় সকল কে বোঝাতে singular common noun এর পূর্বে article the বসে। Example: The cow is a domestic animal.
3. চন্দ্র, সূর্য, তারা, আকাশ, দিক, নদী, উপসাগর, সাগর, মহা সাগর, দ্বীপপুঞ্জ, পর্বতশ্রেণী, বিখ্যাত অট্টালিকা, ট্রেন, বিমান, জাহাজ, মহাকাব্য, ধর্মগ্রন্থ, সংবাদপত্র, ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনা, তারিখ ইত্যাদির নামের আগে The বসে।
Example: The 26 march is a red letter day in the history of Bangladesh.
4. জাতীয়তা প্রকাশক শব্দের আগে The বসে। Example: The British have the reputation to keep their emotion reserved.
5. Superlative Degree সূচক শব্দের পূর্বে the বসে।
Example: Hridoy is the best friend.
6. দুইয়ের মধ্যে তুলনা বোঝাতে adjective এর comparative Degree এর পূর্বে the বসে। Example: Ram is the better of the two boys.
7. ক্রমবাচক শব্দের পূর্বে article the বসে। Example : Himadry is the first student in the class.
8. অর্থপূর্ণ বা বর্ণনামূলক দেশের নাম বা কোনো বিশেষ এলাকার নামের আগে article The বসে। Example: Jessica lives in the USA. Ramos is from the South East Asia.
9. Singular designation এর পূর্বে article the বসে। Example : the prime minister.
